Welcome to Muster Point Campsite

Muster Point Campsite is just off Featherbed Lane in East Hendred, South Oxfordshire. We are 3.5 miles from the Ridgeway in the North Wessex Down Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). We also have excellent access by foot, bike and car to the village of Steventon with its three Pubs and a CO-OP and Post Office. In 30 minutes you can be in the centre of Oxford via the UK’s first Park & Ride.

Availability and Booking

We have decided to advertise our campsite primarily through Pitchup. Pitchup is extensively used to find the ideal site for a planned vacation, or a last-minute away-day. The availability calendar on this page will tell you if there is a vacant pitch waiting for you at Muster Point. You can book through Pitchup, or you can email Mark Turner and book direct with us. We have a card machine to take payments or we are happy to take cash!

As you can see from the lovely background photo – we have all-grass pitches. Our access is tight, so we do not allow caravans, and there is no hard-standing for the heavier motorhomes. All our pitches are £25 per night for two people, with one tent or one campervan allowed per pitch. Additional people (up to a maximum per pitch of 6) are charged at £5 per adult and £3 per child. One additional car is allowed in the pitch price. Extra cars are charged at £10 per stay. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead as we have chickens and a cat at Muster Point. One dog is allowed in the pitch price. Additional dogs are charged at £5 per stay.

GETTING HERE

Travelling by road you will be approaching the campsite along Featherbed Lane. If you have approached from the Wantage direction, or via Rowstock, you will have turned into Featherbed Lane from the A417 – the Reading – Wantage road. The campsite is an entrance-way on your left about 1/4 mile along, at the SLOW sign before two sharp bends.

If you have come from the A34 or from Abingdon or Didcot you will have turned into Featherbed Lane at the Q Gardens Farmshop. The campsite is an entrance-way on your right about 3/4 mile down, just after two sharp bends.

TRANSPORT LINKS

The Oxford Bus Company has the X32 and 98 services between Wantage and Didcot, with the closest stop to us in East Hendred. They also have theST1 and 34 that serve the Harwell Campus – the best stop is at Milton Hill near the Q Gardens Farmshop. We would strongly discourage walking along Featherbed Lane, as it is a narrow road with un-restricted speed limit and no pavement or verge.

Didcot Parkway Train Station has excellent services from London, Bristol and the South-West and Wales, as well as from the Midlands via Oxford. You can easily get a Taxi from the station to the campsite, which will take about 10 minutes.
